The weather derivatives market as an instrument of effective risk management is still not flexible enough for many industries. water supply and sewerage industry sensitive primarily to heavy rainfalls periods high low temperatures: days with rainfall may cause a hydraulic overload the systems; on hot days, demand increases significantly; frost pipe failure grows. work aimed summarise methods propose indices that will help protect interests in Poland. Three were proposed: daily precipitation index, day index. frequency reaching these Poland was verified use meteorological data from 1970–2019, 19 locations. non-parametric Mann-Kendall test used determine climate change impact exceedance proposed indicators. results showed indexes exceeded past once every 6 years, average. index least often, but it only one clear (growing) trend observed.
